What is Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) is an ancient system of health care that has undergone continual development over the centuries as the causes of illness that afflict mankind have evolved. It has long been considered a complete medical system that is capable of treating disease in all its forms. In China it is not thought of as an alternative form of therapy, but is used by physicians in tandem to modern medicine.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)
Traditional Oriental Medicine, while often a standalone treatment for a multitude of common illnesses & conditions, can safely & easily be used alongside Western medicine in a complementary manner. Many people experience better results from Western medicine when paired with Traditional Oriental Medicine.
Who Can Receive Treatments?
Chinese Herbal Medicine can be employed by people of any age or constitution. Susannah will take any previous or current illness or medication into account before providing treatment.

Are Chinese Herbs Safe?
Chinese Medicine has been used as front line medicine by the majority of the world’s population since before recorded history, and is still the most widely utilized medical system in the world today. Adverse reactions to Chinese herbs are extremely rare and are negligible when compared to those commonly produced by pharmaceutical drugs.
Grace Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine only buys and prescribes herbs that are batch tested and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified to be free of any contaminants. The formulas that we prescribe are held to the highest standards for both safety and efficacy. Side effects are possible as they are with any prescription including pharmaceutical, but are rare.
Are any endangered species used?
The GMP is greatly concerned about the threat to wild animals and plants that have come about as a result of the growth in demand for traditional medicines. GMP has a strict policy forbidding the use of any type of endangered species.
Is there more to Chinese Medicine than herbs?
Chinese Medicine consists of herbal therapy, acupuncture, injection therapy, dietary therapy, exercise and lifestyle management. Susannah offers all of these services and is well known for her ability in applying their benefits in a skillful and meaningful way in both her family medicine and sports medicine practices.
